Packing Operator
Summary:
Reporting to the Team Leader and/or Line Leader, the Packaging Operator is responsible for operating all the equipment in packaging. The Packaging Operator will work closely and provide backup as needed to the Team Leader and/or Line Leader to ensure the packaging line produces a consistent product in a timely manner that meets all standards. The Team Member will support your Team Leader and/or Line Leader by demonstrating and practicing teamwork every day and respecting all your fellow Team Members.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assists the team leader and/or Line Leader in fostering an environment of mutual respect and teamwork among Team Members
- Provides training as required to ensure an effective and efficient team
- Verify the use of appropriate packaging materials as per the batch sheet.
- Set up, operate, troubleshoot & perform change-overs on all the packaging equipment (Flow Wraps, Baggers, Schubert’s, metal detectors, case labelers, date coders, clamshell labelers etc.) to ensure accuracy and consistency with respect to post-bake specifications.
- Ensure that all the team members follow VQS (visual quality standards).
- Cleans up the area during and after the shift is over.
- Perform return-to-stock activities and return all packaging materials upon completion of production runs and after each changeover.
- Accurately complete all required production documentation in real time and promptly escalate any deviations to the appropriate leadership.
- Where applicable, proficient in using RF guns to perform all inventory-related transactions, ensuring compliance with SAP/OMS procedures and protocols.
- Correctly stack pallets using the palletizer and operate it safely and consistently.
- Ensures a safe working environment is maintained by enforcing Company standards.
- Ensures all processes comply with GMP regulations while actively maintaining high standards of product quality and safety throughout production.
- Ensure proper segregation and disposal of food, plastic, and paper waste to support environmental sustainability and compliance with waste management policies.
- Reports any concerns and findings to production leaders to ensure timely resolution and uphold manufacturing quality and safety standards.
- May be required to perform general team member duties or take on additional responsibilities as assigned.
Required Experience and Skills
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment (food/bakery experience is desirable)
- Internal candidates must have worked at FGF as a General Labor in Production/Sanitation for minimum 6 months
- External candidates must have worked as machine operator for minimum 1 year
- Accuracy and attention to detail, and the ability to detect the presence of a quality issue
- Good communication skills, along with simple mathematical abilities
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to operate a manual pump truck /electric walkie in a safe and efficient manner and perform daily inspection.
- Physically capable of performing the demands of the role, including frequently lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to move from one task to another with minimal distraction
- Comfortable working in cold, warm, or humid environments, and flexible to work days, afternoons, nights, and weekends as needed.
