Warehouse Shift Leader

Summary
Reporting to the Warehouse Site Leader, the Shift Leader is responsible for the overall efficient warehouse function, including site inventory control and management; all within a fast-paced (Just in Time) food manufacturing environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Leads by example and fosters an environment of mutual respect and teamwork among Team Members. Also, fosters an environment for continuous improvement.
- Conducts huddles with warehouse team leaders and provides feedback for team members.
- Leads, coaches, mentors and trains warehouse Team Members.
- Perform visual inspection of facility on daily basis.
- Assign tasks to warehouse teams as needed.
- Maintains a positive attitude and gets along well with coworkers.
- Ensures that a safe working environment is always maintained by enforcing Company standards and following up on regular inspections, plus managing safety incidents within warehouse department.
- Manages (with T&D) any disciplinary actions with warehouse team (Salary & Hourly).
- Provides orientation and training as required to ensure an effective and efficient workforce.
- Follows all GMP’s and Safety Procedures as outlined by FGF.
- Acts as a backup to Warehouse Site Leader when necessary and all functions for warehouse (Indirect PO’s, warehouse reports, meetings, etc).
- Comply with established departmental and organizational policies and procedures.
- Ensure system procedures are followed.
- Troubleshoot problems that arise for warehouse department. Including any computer, email, etc. issues with IT department.
- Oversee all warehouse operations, including managing dispatch, finished goods in bounds, empty bin positions, outbound orders, ordering and maintaining warehouse supplies, coordinating pallet orders with vendors, and maintaining and approving weekly employee times in TMTM (including PTO).
- Works with Team leaders for Salary/Hourly coverage for PTO/call in.
- As need dictates, both assigned shift, work location, and work schedule may be changed by management with or without prior notice.
- May have to work weekends and holidays.
- May have to work over 40 hours per week.
Required Experience
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment (food/bakery experience is desirable)
- Flexible to work afternoons, nights & weekends if needed
- Must have a valid forklift operator license (Counterbalance / Raymond Reach) from a recognized training provider
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems
- Accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to detect the presence of a quality issue
- Good communication skills, along with strong computer and mathematical abilities
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Physically capable of performing the demands of the role
- Ability to frequently move objects up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to multitask.
- Post-secondary education an asset
