Summary

As the Operations Trainer, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational activities of our main food processing facility, focusing on productivity, performance, costs, efficiencies, KPIs, training, and continuous improvement. You will support the Operations Leader and Site Leader of the Facility.  The Operations Trainer will be highly utilized to commission new equipment, build & train new/existing production teams, enhance team member engagement, and support leaders as required. 

 

Primary Responsibilities 
 

  • Plan, direct, and manage multi-shift operations, 
  • Maintain & update the documentation regarding all training as required, 
  • Review/set various department schedules, plans, products, and manpower requirements to ensure business objectives are met. 
  • Champion HPM Initiative as a compliance/coach and take the lead for the plant from IE consultants during the handover of the project, 
  • Develop and implement opportunities for process improvements and cost savings around training, HPM, and other key processes of operations. 
  • Create & develop training manuals, OPL, and SOPs, and update “what good looks like” as required. 
  • Master trainer representative of the site for any major update in terms of either software or hardware change (Apollo, HPM, etc.) 
  • Backup for Ops. Leader & shift leader in case of vacation or absenteeism, 
  • Support Ops. Leader in sitting down for performance reviews and follow-up regarding performance for key roles & above, 
  • Ensure that a safe working environment is always maintained by enforcing Company/Industry standards. 
  • Support, mentor, and train the front-line Key roles & Team Leaders for all sorts of training. 
  • Provide commitment to implement and maintain an effective BRC System and support its ongoing improvement.  
  • Demonstrate that he/she is committed to the implementation of the requirements of CFIA, FDA, and global standards for food safety and to processes that facilitate continual improvement of food safety and quality management. 

 

Required Experience 

 

  • Minimum 6 years’ leadership experience in Manufacturing, managing direct reports with staff, 
  • Post-secondary education in Operations Management, Supply Chain, or Business preferred. 
  • Food, Beverage, or Consumer Packaging Goods experience is highly preferred. 
  • Solid knowledge of Operations & Supply chain (planning, purchasing, production, distribution) required. 
  • Hands-on leader with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, 
  • Strong decision maker and problem solver with excellent project management skills, 
  • Ability to effectively coach, mentor, and develop others, 
  • Results-oriented and strategic leader with excellent planning and organizational skills,  
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills,  
  • Working knowledge of GMPs, HACCP. ISO, GFSI & O.H.S.A
