Summary


The Director, Health & Safety (US) is a senior leader responsible for driving the execution and continuous improvement of Health & Safety programs across all US locations. This role champions a proactive safety culture, aligning health and safety strategies with business objectives, operational excellence, and compliance
requirements.
As a trusted advisor to senior leadership and a coach to site teams, the Director partners cross-functionally to
embed safety into all aspects of operations. They lead the deployment of scalable systems and processes that reduce risk, drive engagement, and ensure regulatory compliance.
This role provides subject matter expertise, strategic insight, and hands-on leadership to build a resilient and
sustainable safety culture across the US business.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the implementation of a comprehensive Occupational Safety Management System across all US sites (2 in Indiana, 1 In Tennessee, and 1 in Texas).
  • Partner with senior business and operations leaders to assess risk, establish priorities, and integrate
    safety into strategic and daily decision-making.
  • Serve as the primary H&S advisor to US site leadership teams, providing direction, coaching, and support.
  • Lead incident investigations and root-cause analysis, driving system-level corrective actions.
  • Champion and evolve the “Internal Responsibility System” through ongoing training, communication, and leadership development.
  • Interpret and operationalize regulatory and legislative requirements (e.g., OHSA/OSHA), ensuring timely alignment across all locations.
  • Lead the development and standardization of Emergency Response Plans and site-specific health and
    safety protocols.
  • Provide oversight and direction to joint H&S committees, audit programs, ergonomic and industrial
    hygiene initiatives.
  • Influence safety culture by engaging all levels of the organization—from frontline to senior leaders—
    through education, storytelling, and leadership.
  • Lead US safety metrics reporting, analysis, and continuous improvement; communicate results and trends to senior leadership.
  • Identify and implement new technologies, systems, or innovations to elevate H&S performance.
  • Serve as a liaison to external regulatory bodies, consultants, and internal partners.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing team of safety professionals across the US network.
  • This role requires travel, approximately 1-2x per month within the US and Canada.

 

Required Experience:

  • 10+ years of progressive Health & Safety leadership experience, preferably in food manufacturing,
    pharmaceutical, or construction industries.
  • 5+ years in a senior or strategic leadership role with multi-site responsibility.
  • Bachelor’s degree in EHS, Engineering, or a related technical field required.
  • Certified H&S Professional designation (e.g., CSP, CRSP®, CHSC, etc.) required.
  • Proven experience building scalable H&S programs in a fast-paced, complex environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, coach, and align cross-functional and executive-level teams.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to link safety to operational and financial performance.
  • Skilled in strategic planning, change management, risk analysis, and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level presentations.
  • Advanced understanding of H&S legislation, standards, and best practices across jurisdictions.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety data management tools.
