Overview

Reports to the Production Operations Leader, the Production Shift Leader is a key Senior-level Leader responsible for providing leadership to the Food Production Shift and ensuring a consistent product in a timely manner that meets all standards set forth by FGF Brands. This Leader is responsible for understanding, complying and leading Line and team Leaders on all assigned production tasks ensures that production schedules are met safely and on time, while continually reducing costs and increasing overall efficiencies.

Responsibilities:

  • Must lead by example, fosters and develops an environment of mutual respect and teamwork among Line and Team Leaders and all FGF Team Members
  • Responsible for leading all Production Line and Team Leaders in addition to all crews on a shift. Directly responsible to coach, mentor and train Line and Team Leaders on FGF Culture, Organization, Teamwork, The Site Facility and all facets of Production
  • Ensures production schedules are met, resolving any issues that hinder the timely production of a Manufactures Order (MO) maintaining quality and timeline.
  • Coordinates the various department schedules, products and manpower to ensure that the production in the plant is effective and creates a superior product
  • When required assists in all testing of new equipment, methods and or products. Analyzes and assess issues with production or Site processes
  • Provides input on staffing levels, fostering a team environment by clearly defining and communicating to the Production Line and Team Leaders their impact on individual and team performance.
  • Trains, develops and evaluates staff in a timely and effectively manner. Setting objectives for Line and Team Leaders and completing performance reviews.  Required to provide informal and formal feedback on a regular basis to Line and Team Leaders and FGF Site Leadership
  • Demonstrates Leadership that promotes Line and Team Leader engagement through enhanced communication and trust between Leaders. Acts as a backup to the Operations Leader when necessary and directed
  • Responsible for Leadership oversight of Critical Control Points (CCP’s) to Production standards.
  • Ensures Line and Team Leaders monitors and provides adjustments to the computerized equipment to ensure a quality product is produced consecutively and that all products are produced with minimal waste
  • Ensures Line and Team Leaders are following Operation Management System (OMS) procedures and that procedures are being followed to maintain a current inventory in the operating system
  • The Shift Leader supports the orientation and training effort to ensure Line and Team Leaders assist new Team Members creating an effective team
  • Ensures that a safe working environment is maintained at all times by monitoring Line and Team Leaders on company standards and regular inspections. This Shift Leader is required to complete two “GEMBA” walks/tours of production a day.  In lean manufacturing a “GEMBA refers to the factory floor where a product is made. The term originates from a Japanese word that means “the actual place.” Although its business usage origins are in manufacturing it is the location were leadership to go to observe the manufacturing process in action
  • Performs the responsibilities, tasks assigned with guidance from Leadership and may be asked to perform other duties when needed as well as be assigned additional duties by leadership
  • Determines and timely reports equipment malfunctions to appropriate Leadership

Requirements :

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred. Some college or a Degree a plus
  • Must be comfortable with flexible shifts. 
  • The ability to understanding or the ability to learn Food Manufacturing, Food Safety Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) requirements for this position
  • The ability to understanding or the ability to learn Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and learn all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for this position
  • Must be a demonstrated self-starter who easily interacts with others and is adept at meeting demands established by dictated schedule
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication skills, along with mathematical abilities and have strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook)
