Overview
The traffic specialist coordinates with carriers, audits suppliers, prepares and negotiates claims and selects or recommends carriers to ensure efficient, timely and least expensive movements of materials. It also assures compliance with Federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt and documentation of imported and exported products.

Responsibilities
- Research transportation methods, rates, and routes; audits and monitors carrier rate and charges and evaluates past performance, cost and shipping routes.
- Collaborates with management in negotiating, awarding, monitoring administering and reviewing agreements and performance with transportation carriers, freight audit vendors, customs brokers and transportation suppliers.
- Plans, schedules, and directs the routes inbound and outbound freight shipments, utilizing knowledge of postal regulations, tariffs and company policy.
- Reviews and analyzes vendors' service and works with them to improve performance in order to ensure quality service and to resolve any problems.
- Plans schedule and direct routes inbound freight shipments, utilizing knowledge of postal regulations, tariffs and company policy.
- Analyzes alternate methods of transportation, including projected cost and service improvements.
- Communicates with different teams and leadership send updates to our Supply Chain team and send shipping and delivery email communications.
- Set delivery appointments, set inbound appointments, schedule updates, like no show/hot/note late appointments.
- Inputs LPM shipping dates in SAP, sap delivery date and set up truck in OMS and report any truck issues.
- Set up Vendor BOLs and Vendor appointments.
- Report customer truck issues and log customer issues by Reason Code
- Separate and Routes Sales orders and Tracks load efficiency.
- Can be relied upon to complete assigned tasks.
- Complies with established Departmental and Organizational policies and procedures.
- Works within a team environment to meet/exceed established production standards.
- As need dictates, both assigned shift, work location, and work schedule may be changed by management with or without prior notice.
- May have to work weekends and holidays.
- May have to work over 40 hours per week.
Requirements
- 1-3 years experience in traffic control
- Extremely organized with a close attention to detail and time management
- Working knowledge of internal traffic and shipping procedures, transportation and shipping logistics and freight carrier standards, policies and procedures
- Ability to type 30 wpm
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work under limited supervision
- Good customer service skills
