Overview
The Production Machine Operator II is a highly skilled worker responsible for understanding and following all assigned tasks and abiding by all safety requirements for the following machines: Oven, Ultrasonic, Depositor, Arpac/Individual Wrap Wrapper, Metal Detector and Label Operator, Palletizer, Icing, Schuberts, and Tray/Box Former. The Machine Operator II will also ensure their operation is efficient as per their training as well as maintaining the cleanliness and material requirements for their specified piece of equipment.

Responsibilities
- Perform the responsibilities and tasks assigned with the general guidance of the Plant Management.
- Work within a group to meet/exceed established production standards.
- Make minor adjustments to maintain the greatest operational efficiency of their assigned equipment.
- Load and replenish as necessary the machine with the appropriate material in an efficient and safe manner.
- Determine and report equipment malfunctions to appropriate parties.
- Monitor for and detect defective materials.
- Document accurate information on production and packaging forms.
- Enter data in computer program (Infinity).
- Ensures product weight specifications are being met.
- Responsible for controlling the Critical Control Point per HACCP, the equipment must be set up properly as stated in the procedure.
- Shut off machinery before clearing jams. Ensure equipment lockout procedure is used prior to doing any cleaning or adjustment/repair which requires safety guards to be removed or which may expose employees to injury through inadvertent movement of machine parts.
- Complete all company required paperwork to document periodic quality checks, to account for product produced, and to provide other records as required by the company.
- Clean up responsibilities:
- During downtimes maintain the surrounding area by cleaning the floors and disposing of waste in appropriate receptacles.
- Clean the machines and conveyors at the end of the shift.

- Production equipment responsibilities:
- Operates machinery or equipment as trained and instructed following safety guidelines at all times.
- Assists in preparing for shift production.
- Work closely with the rest of the team and become knowledgeable of the mechanics and operation of the machine in use.
- Comply with the following programs within the production area:
- Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP’s)
- Any and all food safety programs.
- Any and all safety programs.
- Troubleshooting:
- Utilizes understanding of the production line to troubleshoot process/packaging problems.
- When possible, troubleshoots causes of customer issues or production problems and collaborates with other departments to provide efficient and effective resolution.
- Communications:
- Communicate problems or issues that are occurring on the production floor to the production management team.
- Work and communicate with other departments on production issues or concerns.
- Improvements in the Production Line:
- Advise the Production Supervisor when opportunities exist to improve the production line.
- As needed or as opportunities arise, work with Quality or Production management on programs related to SPC, Lean Manufacturing, 6’s and other quality tools.
- Personal Development:
- Take on additional responsibilities and consistently demonstrate problem solving skills in order to move up within the company.
- Follows attendance policy. Observes department call-in procedures. Exhibits timely arrival and departure and dependable time habits including meal and other breaks.
- Maintains a positive attitude and gets along well with coworkers.
- Exhibits teamwork and willingness to help others.
- Follows dress code and maintains a professional appearance.
- Can be relied upon to complete assigned tasks.
- Complies with established Departmental and Organizational policies and procedures.
- Works within a team environment to meet/exceed established production standards.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum 2 year work experience required.
- Equipment operator experience required.
- Must have a great attention to detail to be able to detect the presence of product or production issues.
- Ability to understand verbal and written communications in English.
- Ability to visually inspect product and materials.
- An understanding or wiliness to learn food manufacturing and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
- Previous experience operating a piece or pieces of equipment in a fast paced environment.
- Previous experience in setting up equipment for production.
- Ability to train others on set ups and operation
